Hexmark vs Buxton
Buxton is now sold as Audiense In-Person.
You send Buxton your customers' names and street addresses, and their analysts return a score. Their own contract says sixty business days. Hexmark reads an ID and a ZIP, runs in your browser the same afternoon, and every number opens into the arithmetic behind it.

What Buxton sells
- An analytics engagement rather than software: their staff take the question away and return a result.
- Household segmentation bought from consumer data brokers and reported as one of 71 consumer types.
- A custom predictive model, scoped and priced as a project, on their timeline.
Where we are different
What leaves your building
Buxton's published data requirements ask for the first name, last name and street address of every customer from the prior 12 months, delivered by SFTP, at least 90% address-complete, matched by their staff. Hexmark's customer shape has no field for a name, a street, an email, a phone number or a date of birth. It reads an ID and a ZIP. For a clinic that difference is the whole conversation.
How long until you have an answer
Their contract language says platform access within ten business days and models within sixty business days of receiving all your data. Customers have described three and four months in practice. Hexmark gives you the heat map in minutes and the customer overlay after one table binding.
Whether you can see the reasoning
A Buxton site score is an index against your own average, with contributing variables listed. The weights and the fitted model are not shown, and you cannot re-fit it. Hexmark's number opens into the arithmetic that produced it, and the definition behind it is one you wrote and can change.
What it comes down to
Two different purchases. One is an analyst engagement that starts by putting patient data on an SFTP server. The other is software your team runs this afternoon.
Questions
Is Buxton still Buxton?
The location intelligence platform is now part of Audiense and the product is called Audiense In-Person. Their site still says "powered by Buxton" and the legacy products are still there, so this is a consolidation rather than a shutdown. Deep links from buxtonco.com redirect.
What does Buxton cost?
There is no public price. The figures we can source to primary documents are municipal contracts at $45,000 and $50,000 a year on three-year terms. Ranges quoted elsewhere online trace back to a competitor's blog with no source behind them, so we don't repeat them.
Do we have to give Hexmark our customer list?
You give us two columns: a customer ID and a ZIP code. Nothing in the schema could carry a name or a street address, so the file a clinic worries about sending is one we could not read if you sent it.
